[Guide] ADB Driver Installation & Common Command

Part I: Download ADB.rar from http://www.mediafire.com/?qo4h3ibn2wgysdh

Part II: Driver Installation for Windows.
The following procedure was tested successfully on Win7 64 bits
1> Open Device Manager, delete any device that is associated with your tablet or phone, i.e. RK29 Device, etc . . .
2> Enable USB Debugging (Menu>Settings>Applications>Development)
3> Connect USB cable into tablet and to PC. On tablet, enable USB connection. In some device, it may need to put in USB Mass Storage Mode
4> Open up Device Manager
5> Under Other Devices you should now see your tablet or phone.
6> Right-click and select Update Driver Software
7> Click on "Browse my computer for driver software"
8> Click on "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
9> Click on "Show All Devices" then "Next". DO NOT CLICK ON ADB INTERFACE FROM THE LIST!
10> Click on "Have Disk" button
11> Click "Browse" button
12> Go to the Driver folder (from either the download packages that was mentionned in step 1), then select 'android_winusb.inf'.
13> Click "OK"
14> Select 'Android Composite ADB Interface' and click the "Next" button
15> Click "Yes" on the "Update Driver Warning" window

Part III: Test your Device connection:
Open CMD window and change directory to the downloaded/extracted folder in Part I, i.e. cd:\ADB
Type:

Code: Select all

adb devices

That should return some numeric numbers if driver was installed successfully

Part IV: Some of the more common commands in adb are push, pull, shell, install, remount, and logcat.

Push sends a file from your desktop computer to your Android device:

Code: Select all

adb push test.txt /sdcard/test.txt

Pull pulls a file from your Android device to your desktop computer:

Code: Select all

adb pull /sdcard/test.txt test.txt

Shell lets you run an interactive shell (command prompt) on the Android device:

Code: Select all

adb shell

Install lets you install an android APK file to your Android device:

Code: Select all

adb install myapp.apk

Remount remounts the /system partition as writable (or readonly if it is already writeable):

Code: Select all

adb remount

Logcat lets you view the devices debug logs in real time (must press control+c to exit):

Code: Select all

adb logcat
